Whiteriver Construction was founded by Corydon M. Cooley, whose great grandfather won the town of Show Low, AZ in a historical card game in 1870. Mr. Cooley established Whiteriver Construction in 1994 on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation to fulfill a need for a licensed and bonded general contractor on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation.
Mr. Cooley, a tribal member himself with 40 years of business experience, felt it important to help Tribal members and subcontractors with employment opportunities thereby encouraging and supporting the economic development of the area. The company started as a small local contractor. With the help of Jason Carter, who Mr. Cooley hired in 1995, the company began expanding throughout Arizona and New Mexico and was ranked as the 101st largest commercial contractor in the Southwest according to an industry leading magazine in 2010 and was also ranked as one of the fastest growing businesses in America by Inc. Magazine in 2008, 2009, and 2010.
